May 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - CHENNAI:

Election expenditure monitoring officials conducted raids on two private premises in Nandanam and Puzhuthivakkam, where seized cash “could run into crores”, a senior official said.

“The raids are still on and they are counting the money. The cash could runs into crores,” CEO Rajesh Lakhoni said. Since the Model Code of Conduct came into effect on March 4, surveillance officials have seized over Rs. 87 crore so far. On Sunday, cash to the tune of over Rs. 1 crore was seized from across the State. Surveillance officials have stepped up their vigil, as just few days are left before the polls on May 16.
