Cops promised to release son of petitioner

According to the petitioner, on March 12, Shahabad cops promised to release his son but later abused and threatened him. On March 16, the petitioner filed a habeas corpus petition before HC, seeking production of his son. The warrant officer raided the police station, but Mustain was not found there. On April 4, his body was found.
There have been other cases like this.In October 2015, a 20-year-old from Saharanpur was allegedly killed in Sarahan village, near Nahan, in Himachal Pradesh, by villagers who thought he was involved in smuggling of cattle. Four others were beaten up.
On April 29, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti wrote to her Punjab counterpart, Parkash Singh Badal, saying that mutton traders and importers of the state were being harassed in Punjab.
