KUWJ condemns attack on mediapersons

Condemning the attack on Suvarna TV reporter Prasanna Deshpande and cameraman Sangamesh on Sunday, the district unit of the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists has demanded that the government frame a law to protect journalists from attacks. Mr. Deshpande and Mr. Sangamesh were beaten up at Takke area in Vijayapura when they were covering a news story about a boy who was being paraded by a group after shaving his head. The group opposed their attempt to record the incident and beat them up after smashing their camera.
