: The BJP on Monday staged demonstrations at 11 Delhi Jal Board (DJB) offices, including its headquarters at Varunalaya, demanding the arrest of those guilty in the Rs. 400 crore Water Tanker Scam during the former Sheila Dikshit government.

They alleged that the scam was being suppressed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

The party said that the demonstrations were organised under the leadership of Delhi BJP head Satish Upadhyay and attended by Leader of the Opposition Vijender Gupta, National Secretary R.P. Singh, former MLA Subhash Sachdeva and former Mayor Yogender Chandolia.

Workers burnt effigies of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal outside several DJB installations. Demonstrators were restricted from marching into the DJB headquarters by the police.

‘Will compel AAP government’

“The people of Delhi want to know why Mr. Kejriwal is silent on the arrest of the persons involved in the scam, which was committed during the tenure of Sheila Dikshit? What is the deal or what portion of the Rs. 400 crore scam is preventing action against the accused?” Mr. Upadhyaya said.

“Why has there been no action against those involved in the scam despite a report of the inquiry committee formed by Water Minister Kapil Mishra? We will compel the Kejriwal government to arrest Ms. Dikshit and also demand an investigation into this case from Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung,” he added.

Mr. Gupta demanded a special session of the Delhi Assembly on the issue where the government should answer why it was not in favour of taking any action against Ms. Diskhit.

“In fact, we demand to know why Mr. Kejriwal has not ordered any investigation into any instance of corruption during the tenure of Ms. Dikshit,” said the National Secretary.
