Denied scholarship, students threaten stir

At least 22 students pursuing masters in pharmacy from Babsaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) have threatened to go on a hunger strike if they are not given scholarship, which they were entitled for, by University Grants Commission (UGC).

Lucknow: At least 22 students pursuing masters in pharmacy from Babsaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) have threatened to go on a hunger strike if they are not given scholarship, which they were entitled for, by University Grants Commission (UGC).
MPharma students of 2014- 2015 batch, who met the university registrar Sunita Chandra, said they have not been getting the scholarship for two years.
Scholarship is given to students who clear graduate pharmacy aptitude test (GPAT).
UGC had directed the university to make the payment latest by March 31, but so far, no payments have been made, said students.
University spokesperson Kamal Jaiswal said, "We are looking into the matter. Decision will be taken in the interest of students."
