THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Idea today announced the expansion of its 4G services to over 90 more towns in the Kerala circle. With this launch, Idea 4G is now available in over 100 towns in the state. The telco claims that its 4G network covers 53% of the total population in the region, across all 14 districts.
Idea 4G LTE service is available in the major towns of Alleppey, Kasarkod, Kalpetta, Kayamkulam, Nilambur, Perinthalmanna, Thalasseri, Vadakara.
Other major towns include Ernakulam, Trivandrum, Thrissur, Calicut and Malappuram.

The 4G network in the region is based on 2,500 sites. The company intends to add more 4G sites with the increase in 4G LTE user base.
Idea is offering all existing customers a free-of-cost upgrade to a 4G SIM, available across its showrooms in Kerala. The company has launched a toll-free number 12149 that gives customers the precise location of the nearest Idea showroom via SMS. Once upgraded, customers can also avail 1 GB of free 4G data by simply sending an SMS ‘GO4G’ to 12345.

The telco had announced the availability of its 4G LTE service in 84 more towns of the Punjab circle, last week. Idea 4G is available in the major towns of Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Muktsar, Barnala, Rajpura and Gurdaspur, in addition to the other major towns of Chandigarh, Firozepur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Moga and Pathankot that were launched earlier.
