4,200 multi-trip cards (KMT) for electric commuter trains were sold during the long holiday from Thursday to Saturday, Eva Chairunisa, the spokeswoman of commuter train operator PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek (KCJ), said on Sunday.
“Many passengers who used to use the daily deposit train ticket have switched to multi-trip cards, because they want to avoid long queues at ticket booths,” she was quoted as saying by kompas.com.
The KMT enables passengers to touch in at the entrance gate before boarding a train, without having to queue to buy or refund their daily credit.
She added that KCJ had installed e-ticketing machines at several train stations to ease the process of daily deposit train ticket refunds.
“Twelve machines and additional ticketing officers have been placed at busy stations, such as Bogor, Tanah Abang and Jakarta Kota,” she said.
