Nashik: Sudhir Kumar Gupta, deputy railway manager of Bhusawal division, has announced ambitious modernisation plans for Nashik Road railway station. He said it was the highest revenue earning station for the Bhusawal division of Central Railway.
Gupta made the announcement while speaking to newspersons during his visit to Nashik Road railway station on Saturday.

"The demand of attaching an additional bogey to Panchwati Express will be fulfilled at the earliest as there is a considerable rise in the number of commuters travelling to Mumbai on a daily basis," Gupta said. At present, Panchwati Express has 21 bogies.
According to the railways plans, the authorities will install as many as five RO water vending machines on the station premises soon. The station will also get the much-awaited accelerators at a couple of places.
Asked about the Wi-Fi service, the deputy railway manager (DRM) said Nashik station was not shortlisted in the first phase of the railways' project. "However, the station will be enabled with Wi-Fi service in the next three months. Looking at the importance of Trimbakeshwar as a place of religious tourism, a special reservation centre could be established there in near future," Gupta said.

After reviewing Nashik Road railway station and meeting the heads of various organisations of commuters, workers and employees of the railways, Gupta expressed happiness over the cleanliness and facilities at the station.
"Platform no. 4 was made functional during the Kumbh Mela rush. It was used during the event to halt additional trains and clear the rush. Using this platform makes at least 6-7 minute delay in train movement. Hence, we are managing trains from the first three platforms at present. However, the new platform will be used in case of additional rush of trains on the route," Gupta said.
The official admitted that the functioning of Bhusawal division was suffering because of severe staff crunch. "We are short of at least 2,500 employees. We have already informed senior officials about the situation. I am hoping for a positive solution at the earliest," he added.
