Police on Sunday caught three youngsters, who had allegedly snatched the wireless set from a traffic police sub-inspector eight days ago at Nizam college near Basheerabagh, after analysing video footage of surveillance cameras.

Rash driving

The accused, Gulam Mukthar Ahmed, 22, Lakhan Tiwari, 22, and Ankit Mantri, 25, were travelling in an Innova being driven rashly when SI D. Venkateshwarlu tried to stop it on the night of May 1. The vehicle driver slowed initially. On coming closer to the SI, one of the three passengers snatched the SI’s wireless set and sped away.

Investigators identified the Innova car after analysing several video clips recorded by surveillance cameras and caught the accused. Sunil Pandey, another accused in the case, was still absconding.
