Last minute changes in the exam centres for the Under-Graduate Entrance Test (UGET) conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) sent students and parents in a panic mode.
Although COMEDK had sent a late night communication to students and parents stating that the exam centre was changed, parents said that they had missed seeing the SMS.
Arunachalam K.R., a parent whose daughter was earlier allotted a centre at B.M.S. Institute of Technology on Doddaballapur Road, had been asked to report at the centre in Acharya Institute of Technology at Soldevanahalli. “A couple of students had turned up at B.M.S. Institute of Technology and only when they put up the chart around 7.45 a.m. did we realize that the exam centre had changed. I immediately booked a cab and took another student along with my daughter. We experienced some anxious moments as the other centre was nearly 16 km away. But we managed to make it just in time.” A parent, who was at Vemana Institute of Technology, Kormangala, also claimed that around two parents along with their children reported late to the college as they learnt about the change in exam centre only after reaching the venue.
