Hyderabad: A day after the death of contract employee Vittal while repairing faulty electrical supply lines in Motinagar on Thursday, officials submitted a preliminary inquiry report to the department. Based on the report, the department will initiate action against contractor Venkatram Reddy, who hired Vittal.
According to sources, the cable restoration works at the spot began early on Thursday morning and around 15 workers were engaged in it. They were hired by contractor Venkatram Reddy.
Officials from TSPDCL were also present at the spot supervising the works.
Vittal and Naresh were working on this particular pole for more than two hours. After pulling the two cables, the incident happened while pulling the third cable, resulting in the death of Vittal.
Officials said that since the victim was employed by the contractor it was not their responsibility. “But he is still eligible for the compensation from the department. A report has already been submitted to the department about the incident and the department will decide about action after inquiry.” an official said.
Meanwhile, police also recorded the statements of witnesses present at the spot.
“The case is under investigation. Based on facts we will proceed further,” said SI B. Sudheer of SR Nagar police station.
The incident occurred on Thursday, when Vittal, 36, and Naresh were working to restore the in the Motinagar area. While working, suddenly Vittal fell from the pole and died. Naresh who tried to save Vittal, suffered minor injuries in the mishap.
