‘Dead Files’: Down On The Plantation

Now that Paranormal Lockdown has wrapped its first season, and even the over-the-top silliness of Ghost Adventures is airing only reruns between seasons, paranormal junkies only have a handful of shows to turn to for fresh episodes. One of those is Ghost Adventures‘ partner on Saturday nights, The Dead Files. This week, psychic medium Amy Allan traveled to Sicily Island, Louisiana, to a private residence where a woman said an entity was attacking her children and grandchild, and the woman was frantic and worried that someone was going to really get hurt.

As soon as she got out of the car, Amy said she sensed a hundred men circling the property and, of course, “she didn’t like it.” (If you’ve never watched the show before, she pretty much says this about every single place she goes to, or at least every single place that makes it to a televised episode.)

The client, Pat, told investigator Steve DiSchiavi that they had bought the property a couple of years ago, and it was supposed to be their dream retirement home. She told Steve that they had always been a happy family, and she had never argued with her husband of almost 30 years, at least not until they moved into this home. Now she says the family is at each other’s throats, and she even confessed that she sometimes fantasizes about all of them being gone.

That was kind of an odd phrasing in a sort of Amityville Horror kind of way.

The family had been hearing footsteps and growling, seeing apparitions and shadow people, and experiencing things moving on their own, but they knew they had to seek help when things became “violent.” Pat claimed that one daughter had been pushed down the stairs and one had been pinned up against the wall, as she put it.

During her walkthrough of the house, Amy saw a shadow man crouched down and when he stood up, she said he was as tall as the ceiling. She also claimed to see another shadow person who liked to crawl up the back steps and make a lot of noise as he grunted and growled his way up. This seemed to explain the family’s reports that they are always hearing things falling or being thrown, in addition to the growling. The shadow people were angry about having their space invaded, not that they aren’t bad enough anyway, according to Amy.

“This place is all about revenge. Different people want revenge. They would like to murder and torture people.”

Jonathan, the adult son of the client, had woken up feeling like there were hands on his neck and he was gasping for air; he had also woken up with open razor blades by his bed.

“I don’t know if it’s the house, or if we are just crazy.”

Despite the large number of entities that Amy picked up on the property, she pinned down most of the problems to one “dead guy” that she felt could inflict pain and physical suffering on the residents. Research into the property’s background revealed it had been owned by a Confederate soldier who had a large number of slaves, and when he came back from the war after being a POW for over year, he had nothing left except the land which he had to sell. It’s fair to say he was a bitter man.

Plus, the large number of slaves indicated that many had been buried there. In addition, the historian revealed that there had also been Native Americans on the land who had been sold off into slavery and extinction. So basically, here was a house and a piece of land with a high casualty rate and a lot of dead bodies.

Amy told the family that the former slave owner was the main troublemaker and recommended bringing in a black make medium to kick his backside to the curb then help the slaves move on and find peace with someone who wouldn’t trigger their feelings of needing revenge. Then she recommended they bring in a Native American medicine man to finish clearing the space.

Apparently, all they needed was a culturally-sensitive clearing of these spirits to clean house and make the family whole again.
