Two acquitted for bizman’s murder

Two members of a gang, who were being tried for the murder of a Bhiwandi-based businessman and also slapped with MCOCA charges, have been acquitted by the special judge U M Nandeshwar recently.

Thane: Two members of a gang, who were being tried for the murder of a Bhiwandi-based businessman and also slapped with MCOCA charges, have been acquitted by the special judge U M Nandeshwar recently.
While pronouncing the order, the judge observed that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against Raju Rambali Goud (32) aka Stalin and Mainuddin Mustafa Ansari (30) aka Babu.
So, the duo was acquitted.
The third accused and gang leader Bablu Goud (30), also known as Ravan, died during the pendency of the trial in the jail due to an illness.
Additional public prosecutor Sangita Phad told the court that Ravan headed the gang. She told the court that since the last ten years the gang members were involved in crimes like thefts, house breakins, arms and murder. Many cases against them are still pending in the court, she pointed out.
She had further told the court that on September 22, 2010, the accused—Raju and Babu—attacked businessman Dwarkadas Bhanushali with a sharp weapon. They then snatched his laptop and mobile, collectively amounting to Rs 46,000.
The duo were arrested and charges under Sections 302, 397,75 rw 34 of the IPC and also Sections 3(1)(i)(ii)3,(2), and 3(4) of the MCOCA Act of 1999, were slapped on them.
However, advocate Punit Mahimkar appearing for the accused argued that all charges against the accused have not been proved. The court then acquitted the accused,
