To mark World Red Cross Day, the District Red Cross Society Srinagar in collaboration with Department of Education Sunday organized a function at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh Srinagar.The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the function, the Divisional Commissioner called upon students to put in voluntary services to help needy and destitute in the need of hour or any emergency. He stressed upon students to take active participation in social works by helping and assisting the people.The Div Com said the Red Cross is aimed to serve for betterment of Humanity besides development of peace. He recalled the efforts of the volunteers who did extraordinary job during 2014 floods by saving thousands of human lives and said we all should contribute a bit for the society by helping poor and needy especially in the need of hour M.S. Rather, General Secretary, IRCS-J&K State who attended the function as guest of honour urged upon students to play pivotal role in the transformation of society by helping people in the need of hour. He also stressed them to participate in the Red Cross activities regularly.Meanwhile similar function was also held in Kargil to mark the World red Cross day.
