Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government has yet to decide on holding online MBBS counselling for medical colleges admission this year, director medical education (DME) Dr GS Patel said here on Saturday. "We are waiting for guidelines from the apex court and seeking legal opinion on various matters, including holding of online counselling. Our endeavour is to give students maximum time for filling choice and ensure that interest of meritorious students, who apply in different colleges is safeguarded," said Dr Patel.

Sources said DME is seeking opinion from the state government in matter of holding counselling. Last year, online counselling was criticized for technical glitches. In order to complete admission process by September 30, DME is looking at tight deadline. There is good news for local candidates. DME is considering a proposal to favour domicile candidates in unreserved category in private medical colleges. Earlier, domicile advantage was only limited to reserved categories.
All Indian Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) 2016 examination - the first phase of NEET took place on May 1. The medical entrance is held for MBBS and BDS courses, NEET-II, scheduled for July 24, will allow only those candidates who have not appeared in May 1 NEET-I exam.
