A 28-year-old mentally challenged woman, who killed her two children in December 2015, committed suicide at her residence on Saturday.

Sakthivel (33), of Kozhikalnatham in Sankari was married to Manimegalai and had two children, Harneesh (6), a Class II boy, and daughter Suseetha (3). Due to Manimegalai’s health condition, the children were living with their grandmother in the same area. She tried to silt their throat on September 25, but was saved by the neighbours.

On December 20, 2015, she took them to a lake and drowned them in the water. Sankari police arrested her. She was sent to a home in Chennai where she underwent treatment.

On Saturday, she immersed her head in a water drum and committed suicide.
