ISD to probe corruption charges against CID SP

May 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

The Internal Security Division (ISD) on Saturday served notices to Superintendent of Police Madhura Veena — who heads the anti-trafficking cell in the CID — and her 11-member team, summoning them for questioning in connection with a corruption case.

Ms. Veena and her team had raided a hotel in Shivajinagar on March 3. They had allegedly demanded and taken Rs. 2 lakh from the hotel management, threatening to book them otherwise.

Following a complaint by the management, Deputy Inspector General of Police Sonia Narang probed the allegations and submitted a report to the Director General and Inspector General of police, said officials.

Ms. Veena had filed a harassment case against Ms. Narang. Both have been summoned for an inquiry.
