Two killed as car hits train at crossing

Two persons were killed in a collision between their car and a train at an unmanned railway crossing near Chak Kotla village of Kapurthala district.

Kapurthala: Two persons were killed in a collision between their car and a train at an unmanned railway crossing near Chak Kotla village of Kapurthala district. Harjap Singh of Nadala village and his nephew Lovepreet Singh of Dadwindi were in the car going towards Lohian around 12 am when the accident took place.
They first came across Tashpur railway crossing which was closed as the train was to pass.
To avoid the closed crossing, they went to unmanned crossing of Chak Kotla where they could not see Ahmedabad-Jammu Tawi Express coming from Ferozepur and their car was hit by the speeding train. The car was badly crushed.
Harjap died at Sultanpur Lodhi civil hospital just after he was rushed there by the rescuers and Lovepreet succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Kapurthala civil hospital. The duo had come to attend a marriage in Dadwindi village and were going to fetch some items required in the function.
