For progress: Tirah residents urged to maintain peace

Lauds sacrifices rendered by army, civilians, says development is well under way

JAMRUD: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said on Saturday peace had been restored in Tirah Valley due to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army and civilians. “Now it is the foremost responsibility of every resident to maintain this situation,” he continued.

He was speaking at a sport gala held at Maidan Warsak Ground, Tirah Valley in Jamrud, Khyber Agency on Saturday. This is the first time a sports event has been held in the region in several decades.

The officials inaugurated the Tirah headquarter administration offices, a hospital in Bagh and a high school in the Warsak area of Shalobar.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the week-long sports gala in Tirah Valley, the governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said he was proud of the people of Tirah.

He said they defeated militants and now it was time for them to maintain peace by cooperating with security forces.

The governor said this was key to ensure that these locals could start a new life with all possible facilities.

Jhagra said projects of worth Rs3.5 billion rupees were under way in different areas of Tirah which would be a milestone towards progress and development.

The governor praised the political administration and the Pakistan Army for arranging a major sporting event which not only showed that peace had been restored, but also that development projects could be launched.
