Inspiring the kids with legend's tales
NAGPUR: The Pravin Hinganikar Cricket Academy (PHCA) has come up with a novel idea to inspire kids. The PHCA will be organizing under-14 Inter Academy Cricket Tournament from Monday in Nagpur. Giving cash awards to kids so young has its pros and cons. So PHCA has decided to gift all the 'player of the match' award winners with biographies cricket legend.

"There is trend in Vidarbha of not rewarding the kids with cash prize. Of course, it is not advisable also to give such young kids cash rewards. At the same time we wanted to gift this young kids something that will inspire them achieve bigger goals. That's when the idea of awarding the 'player of the match' with biographies of cricket legends struck us," Praveen Hinganikar, director of PHCA, told TOI.
"After each match the best player will be awarded with a legend's biography. We have decided on the biographies also. Sunil Gavaskar's 'Sunny Days' and 'Idols', Sachin Tendulkar's 'Playing It My Way' and 'A biogrpahy of Rahul Dravid' are the books we will be gifting the kids," Hinganikar said.
The PHCA Cup to be held in memory of Appa Kulkarni will witness 12 teams fighting it out for top honours. The teams have been divided in four groups. Two teams from each group will advance to the knock-out stage.
