Panaji: FC Goa chief coach and Brazilian legend Zico was left "disgusted" at the Indian Super League (ISL) regulatory commission's decision to ban the FC Goa co-owners, dock the franchise 15 points and impose a 11 crore fine for the final fracas.
"I have no words. I feel disgusted about the decision taken by the committee. How can ISL levy such heavy fine," Zico said in a statement released by FC Goa on Friday.
The Brazilian legend confirmed that Chennaiyin FC midfielder Elano Blumer, also a Brazilian, had assaulted co-owner Dattaraj Salgaocar after the ISL final at Fatorda and was surprised how another video that showed Elano in the clear went viral.
"We were there — coaches Moraci Santana and Bruno Silva — saw Elano assaulting (Dattaraj) Raj Salgaocar in our dugout," he said. tnn
"That video is clearly cooked! Anyone with sense can see there is a cut before the assault on the owner, and surely all the reaction that came from our team members was not without motive," he added.
Zico said a controversial goal scored during the ISL final at Fatorda was responsible for the entire debacle.
"Interestingly, I could notice that in no time you can hear about the second goal of Mendoza that was scored by hand. It was one of the main things that extolled the spirits of those who were in the field as well as on the stands. They deal with it as nothing really had happened.
The video of this goal went viral but they speak that it was not conclusive, but an edited video like this one brought such a harsh verdict," he pointed out.
