Liquor outlets to be closed from May 14-16

The district administration has ordered the closure of all licensed IMFL retail shops including those run by the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) and the licensed bars in hotels (having F.L.2 and F.L.3 licences) from 10 a.m. on May 14 to midnight of May 16, and for the whole day on May 19, the date for counting of votes, in order to ensure a fair, smooth and peaceful conduct of the Assembly polls.

Collector Suresh Kumar said that if shops hoard, sell or smuggle IMFL in violation of the rules, the contraband would be seized and legal action will be taken against those who fail to comply.
