Salem: The party that people vote to power in Tamil Nadu should introduce Lok Ayukta to probe both old and existing crime cases, said CPI state secretary D Pandian on Friday. Talking to reporters, he pointed out that all political parties have assured total prohibition in the state. "I request the party that comes to power to implement total prohibition at the earliest," Pandian said.

Taking a dig at political parties that have promised to eradicate corruption from the state, the CPI leader said, "The state government cannot do this alone, as most policies, especially money-related ones, are taken by Central government."
Pointing out that the RBI governor Raguram Rajan has cautioned about flow of illegal money (to the tune of 60,000 crore into five states that go to assembly poll. "The Central government, however, hasn't taken action to check this illegal flow of money," he said.
Pandian said the PWF, of which his party is an ally, would provide an alternate to DMK and AIADMK in the state. "Our alliance will win the poll," he said. He also welcomed freebies announced by AIADMK but said the benefits should reach poor people.
Taking a jibe at Pattali Makkal Katchi's announcement to provide government jobs to five lakh people, Pandian said, "There are only 60,000 government jobs are vacant and how would PMK fulfil its promise? "
