Suspect in custody after shootings at two shopping centres

AP, AFPNews Corp Australia

A SUSPECT is in custody after shootings at two Maryland shopping centres in the US that killed two people and injured two others, police said.

Authorities arrested federal law enforcement officer Eulalio Tordil, 62, on Friday afternoon, who is also suspected of killing his estranged wife in a high school parking lot on Thursday.

It was not immediately clear whether all three shootings were related, but police said earlier on Friday that they were investigating a “possible link” between Friday’s shootings and the shooting on Thursday evening.

Two males and one female were injured by gunshots in the parking lot, Montgomery County police said. One male later died at the hospital, police said. Another was in critical condition, and the female had non-life-threatening injuries, reports NBC.

About 20 minutes after that shooting, police responded to more gunfire at a Giant Food supermarket at the Aspen Hill Shopping Center in Silver Spring, where a woman was fatally struck, said Montgomery County Police Assistant Chief Darryl McSwain.
