Tiara freak dodges jail, courts drama

Stacy Engman outside the Federal CourthouseLia Eustachewich

The tiara-loving art curator accused of biting a fellow Turkish Airlines passenger finally pleaded guilty Thursday to harassment — after waffling for more than two hours about the bizarre incident.

Stacy Engman, 38, turned heads at Brooklyn federal court in sky-high stilettos, a short black feathered dress, matching feather boa and her signature tiara with hot pink feathers for what should’ve been a relatively short hearing.

But instead, Engman and Judge Marilyn Go went back and forth for hours about what happened aboard the Kennedy Airport-bound flight from Istanbul last July.

“[The victim Christina Tyler] mentioned my tiara bit her, which evidently, it did,” Engman said.

In a rambling explanation of events, the bubbly blond also alleged that she woke up on the plane to Tyler “whacking” her on the head repeatedly with a seat cushion.

Engman was originally charged with simple assault for allegedly chomping on Tyler while screaming insults and dropping the arm rest on the woman’s leg.

“I’m not satisfied [with the guilty plea] based on clearly contradictory statements—“ Go said, before Engman interrupted, “It’s not contradictory!”

The judge then ordered a 15-minute break for Engman and her attorney Earl Ward to hash out the issues before finally accepting the oddball artist’s plea, in which she admitted to harassing Tyler.

In a deal with feds, Engman copped the violation — which won’t give her a criminal record – and must complete 50 hours of community service and 24 hours of anger management classes.

She plans spending the time helping school kids design tiaras and sunglasses.

“I feel like this is a great day!” Engman cheered outside the courtroom, hugging her weary-looking lawyer. “I’m just thrilled we can all move on – so I can focus on my artwork.”

Throwing on black plastic shades complete with a mini-tiara glued to the top, Engman then told reporters she’d been at the upper-crust art fair Frieze New York earlier in the day before whizzing off in an Uber to meet pals.
