Indian Grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna gained some valuable experience from playing the Norway Chess meet that concluded recently. Last year Norway Chess was part of the Grand Chess Tour. But this year the organizers from Norway have parted ways with the tour.
In one of the strongest events of the first half of 2016, Harikrishna finished seventh in the 10-player meet with 4.5 points out of a possible nine.

The Indian GM's lost against Magnus Carlsen and Vladimir Kramnik were compensated with wins over Li Chao and Anish Giri.
The fourth edition of tournament was won by world champion Carlsen. The 2013 and 2014 editions were won by Sergey Karjakin, while the 2015 event title was for Veselin Topalov.
Hari, who suffered a crushing defeat to Carlsen in the opening round, came back strongly and was even positioned second mid-way through the tournament.
However, some adverse results later in the meet saw him move down the points table.
"It was interesting tournament for me. I had couple of nice victories against Li Chao and Anish Giri. Of course the end result could have been better had I not lost to Kramnik," Hari later said.
"On the other hand to win two games after starting with a loss isn't easy either. In general I am satisfied with my play there. But I could have improved my points and placing in Norway. This is my first super event and I gained good experience from playing in it," Hari, who is inching closer to top Indian GM Viswanathan Anand, concluded.
