Children’s surgery at Bentley Hospital discontinued, moved to Perth’s Princess Margaret Hospital

STAFF WRITERSPerthNow

CHILDREN’S surgery has been cancelled at Bentley Hospital after next week and future operations will be done at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Nine News reports that Bentley staff were told of the decision in an email on Friday morning.

Initially all children’s surgery was to be stopped from next week, a move that would have impacted 16 families.

However, the Health Department confirmed to Nine News later on Friday that those surgeries would still go ahead at Bentley but they would be the final childrens’ operations to be performed at the hospital.

The State Opposition has called it part of a concerted effort by the Barnett Government to “undermine” Bentley Hospital, Nine News reports.
