    IIM Ranchi sees 40% jump in offers

    NEW DELHI: The Ranchi campus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) has seen a 40% jump in pre-placement interviews and offers as compared with last year.

    IIM Ranchi, which is in its fifth year of PGDM programme, said it received 171 placement offers, including 35 from first-time recruiters, this year.

    The average cost to company (CTC), or total salary package, for the 2014-16 PGDM batch was Rs 15.14 lakh per annum, a 13% year-on-year increase, the institute said, adding that over 12% of the final-year students who appeared for the placement exercise received offers greater than Rs 20 lakh per annum.

    For the PGDHRM 2014-16 batch, the average CTC stood at Rs 13.49 lakh per annum and the highest CTC was Rs 20.2 lahk per annum. Marketing emerged as the most preferred domain for the PGDM students, contributing 37% of total offers made.

    Profiles in digital marketing, international marketing, ecommerce, brand management, etc., were offered by HT Media, DS Group, Berger Paints, Videocon and MTR foods, among others. The highest international offer of Rs 55.23 lakh per annum came from this domain.

    About 11% of the batch opted for finance roles like investment banking, equity research, corporate finance, treasury and asset management. The highest domestic offer of Rs 25.5 lahk per annum was made in this domain and the average compensation of the top 20% of the offers in this domain stood at Rs 22.8 lahk per annum.

    Among the finance sector companies that made offers were ICICI Bank, CRISIL, Thomson Reuters and Yes Bank.

    Consulting was a preferred domain too. The median CTC of the roles offered in this domain was Rs 14 lahk per annum, with the average of the top 20% of the offers being above Rs 21 lahk per annum.
