Abu Dhabi: An Arab national suspected of embezzlement is facing trial in the Emirate of Ajman.
The Public Prosecution charged him with cheating an Emirati woman and conning her out of AED462,000.
The plaintiff said that she gave the sum to the suspect who made her believe that she would earn up to AED1 million per year in net profits from the land he would buy in his country.
She filed a lawsuit against the suspect after she realized that he had conned her of her money.
She said that he kept insisting that she transfer the money to his brother, claiming that he couldn’t go the bank herself.
Once he returned to the UAE from a trip to his country, she kept calling him to give her the property deeds of the land, but he evaded her calls.
