BKC constable caught taking bribe from Amazon delivery boy
A 37-year-old police constable attached to the Bandra-Kurla Complex traffic division was caught red-handed by the city’s anti-corruption bureau (ACB) after the constable’s victim — a delivery boy — tipped off the bureau right before handing over the money on Thursday afternoon.

The complainant, a delivery boy for the Indian unit of the online shopping portal Amazon, approached the ACB after facing regular harassment in the hands of constable Suhas Dyaneshwar Bhise.

“The complainant claimed that he worked as a delivery boy and operated in the BKC area often. He claimed that the police constable had been coaxing him since a few days to pay him a bribe if he wanted to let his bike remain parked in the no-parking zones in the area. The complainant alleged that the constable demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 from him in order to not tow away his bike from the BKC area while he was out making deliveries in the area,” an ACB official said.

Once the case was registered, the ACB arranged to lay a trap to catch the police constable red-handed while accepting the said bribe amount.

“We arrested the accused while accepting a sum of Rs 2,500 as a part of the total bribe amount,” the official added. Bhise has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act by the ACB and are currently in the process of conducting searches at his residence to check for any disproportionate assets.
