CET easier than NEET, students say
More than 46,000 students appeared for the Common Entrance Test (CET) on Thursday. While some students found the maths paper tricky, others said they had no trouble at all.

Students who had appeared for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) held on Sunday said the CET was much easier than the NEET, in which 40 per cent of the questions were said to be out of syllabus. “The CET was fairly simple compared to the NEET,” said Akshata Masali, an aspirant from Chembur.

Manisha Patel, an eighteen-yearold student from Bhiwandi missed her CET after some confusion about the address of her centre. Patel’s hall ticket said her centre was at the St Lawrence High School in Vashi, Thane district, so she went to the St Lawrence High School in Thane. “We left from our house in Bhiwandi at around 8.15 am. When we reached the Thane school, we were told that my daughter’s seat number had been allotted to a school of the same name in Vashi. By the time we reached it was past ten. We requested the authorities to let us in but they did not allow my daughter sit for the exam,” said Manisha’s father Jai.

Manisha now has to wait for an entire year to retake her CET. “I had studied for the CET the entire year,” she said. “I only concentrated on the state exam. I did not apply to the AIPMT. While it is partially our mistake, the centre should have been a little more considerate.” On Thursday, while the Supreme Court day clarified that private colleges would not be able to conduct their independent entrance tests, the decision about the state’s plea on the NEET issue is likely to come today.
