A special lecture-demonstration rendered by Padma Shri, Ileana Citaristi the renowned Odissi and Chhau dancer enthralled and left the students and staff of GD Goenka, Dwarka spellbound.

Dr. Citaristi born in Italy studied Odissi under Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. She is also an exponent of the Mayurbhanj Chhau and was conferred the title of ´Leonide Massine for the art of dance' in 1992.

Dr. Citaristi is noted for her innovative choreographic productions in Odissi and Chhau that bring together themes and styles from both the West and the East.

The event was organised under the aegis of SPIC MACAY- an organisation committed to the cause of Indian classical art forms, is a nationwide voluntary movement that organises programmes of classical music and dance, folk arts, yoga, classic cinema screenings, heritage walks, etc. inside school and college campuses throughout the world to make students more aware about Indian and world heritage.

The danseuse Dr. Ileana along with her accompanists maestros took to the stage and gave a soul-stirring performance with her deft moves and delicate rendition of bhava and mudras through which she captured the attention of each and every heart.

Principal MM Bhakuni and the Wing Coordinators felicitated the entourage with mementos.
