A boon for passengers

May 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:24 am IST - MYSURU:

The recent launch of the Namma Metro’s Purple Line connecting Mysore Road with Baiyappanahalli will be a boon to passengers travelling by train and bus from Mysuru to Bengaluru and surrounding areas.

The Purple Line connects Mysore Road, Vidhana Soudha, Cubbon Park, M.G. Road and other key commercial areas.

At present, trains from Mysuru tend to halt at Kengeri till the platform in Bengaluru is cleared to accommodate the incoming train.

But if the services of atleast a few trains are terminated at Nayandahalli instead of waiting, passengers can board the metro.

But it is the bus passengers who can make the most of the Bengaluru Metro.

This is because the route to Bengaluru satellite bus station and Majestic are always clogged and the buses from Mysuru take anywhere from 30 minutes 45 minutes during peak hours to cover the 1.6 km distance from Nayanadahalli to reach the satellite station.

But the greater challenge is reaching the city centre from there and this is where the metro comes into aid.
