Three held for threat SMS

May 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:52 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Virugambakkam police have arrested three persons, including a senior citizen, for sending a threatening BJP State president Tamilisai Soundarajan on May 2 via SMS.

The three — P. Bhuvaneshwari (60), and her children Nagaraj (24) and Nagavalli (27) — had allegedly committed the offence to implicate Alex, an AIADMK functionary. Recently, their houseowner had asked the family to vacate the house at Kundrathur. The trio suspected Alex to be behind this. Soon after this, with the help of a friend, they got a duplicate SIM card with Alex’s number and allegedly sent the message to Tamilisai in an attempt to take revenge on Alex. “Meanwhile, Alex had contacted the operator and got his number released,” the officer added.

Police found two SIM cards active with the same number, but with different serial numbers. “We managed to arrest the accused with the proof they had submitted to get the new SIM,” the officer added.
