The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday ordered issue of notice to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the petitions filed by Ashwin Y., son of former Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao, seeking release on bail in the alleged corruption and extortion cases.

Vacation judge Justice Anand Byareddy, before whom the petitions came up for hearing, adjourned further hearing till May 12.

The petitioner has contended that he is entitled for release on bail as investigation against him has been completed as the SIT has already filed charge sheets. Ashwin, who is under judicial custody since July last, has also claimed that the earlier claim of SIT that he would influence the witnesses because of his father’s position does not exist as his father is no more holding the post of Lokayukta.
