Eight houses gutted in fire, 1 hurt

Eight houses were gutted in Pashva village near Savli Thursday when sparks from an electric pole fell on a heap of grass stacked in one of the houses.

Vadodara: Eight houses were gutted in Pashva village near Savli Thursday when sparks from an electric pole fell on a heap of grass stacked in one of the houses.
Fire figher Balwantsinh Rajput said that many occupants tried to enter the burning houses to recover their belongings and one person, Manu Parmar, suffered burn injuries.Fire fighters from Savli and Kalol municipalities, Savli GIDC and city fire brigade were rushed to douse the blaze.

"All houses had sesame plant fodder for cattle. Strong winds led to the fire spreading fast," said Manish Mod, fire officer .
Mod added that the house owners claimed damages worth Rs 35 lakh. Sarpanch's house was also damaged in the blaze.
