Plenty of sunshine is in the forecast for Colorado on Thursday and Friday.

The National Weather Service expects dry and warm weather on the plains with thunderstorms possible in the mountains.

In the Denver metro area, temperatures are expected to reach about 81 degrees and will dip to about 49 overnight.

The record high for May 5 in Denver was recorded by the weather service in 2000 as 89 degrees.

On Friday, Denver will have a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms.
