Wong Kar Wai leads panel of judges at FIRST festival

5 May - Hong Kong director-producer Wong Kar Wai is set to lead the judging panel for the upcoming 10th FIRST International Film Festival.

As reported on CRI News, "The Grandmaster" director stated that he hopes to see more potential in films competing at the festival.

"To filmmakers, directorial debuts are the start of their careers. To cinematic arts, directorial debut symbolises the future of film. I hope this year's festival will show us more possibilities in cinema," he said.

Wong will be leading other judges that include actress Tang Wei, and director Lu Yue.

Meanwhile, actor Chen Kun has been selected as this year's FIRST ambassador.

Launched back in 2006, FIRST International Film Festival celebrates the directorial debut of young filmmakers.

The event will be running from 21 to 30 July 2016.
