Yu Televentures to launch Yutopia successor this month
Micromax sub-brand, Yu Televentures, has released the first teaser for what seems to be the company's newest flagship smartphone. If this is indeed confirmed, it will be an early successor to the YU Yutopia launched in December 2015.
YU Yutopia: 10 Pros and Cons of the 'World's Most Powerful Smartphone
Rahul Sharma, CEO - Yu Televentures, in a forum post, said, "Excited to tell you all that our next device is round the corner and its nothing short of Incredible. It's insanely beautiful and it will break some hearts. It will break records, it will break the conventional, it will break the rules...WAIT, it will break the flagships."
Here are some of the specifications and features we expect on the upcoming flagship smartphone from Yu Televentures, a Micromax sub-brand.
#1
The company's last flagship, the Yutopia, was equipped with the Snapdraon 810 processor, so the we can expect the latest on the upcoming flagship. Debuting with many flagships recently, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 is the processor that might power Yu's next product. A quad-core 64-bit chipset, the Snapdragon 820 is succeeding the infamous flagship Snapdragon 810 processor of 2015.
Clocked at 1.8 GHz, the processor will be accompanied by the Adreno 530 GPU for improved graphic performance.
#2
The Yu Yutopia had a 21MP rear camera sensor with OIS and PDAF. This time around, we can expect the next flagship to sport the latest Sony IMX298 sensor. This new camera has a 16MP sensor and features like Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), dual-tone LED flash, 4-axis OIS as well as 4K video recording. The camera is capable of recording slo-mo video upto 120 FPS. The front camera also has an upgraded 4MP sensor with a pixel size of 2um.
#4
With the world moving towards this new technology for charging and data syncing, it will be but natural for Yu Televentures to incorporate the USB Type-C port on their upcoming flagship smartphone. With a reversible connector and fast charging support, the port will help offer better battery performance during regular daily usage.
#4
The Yu Yutopia was launched in only a single variant - 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM. This time though, the next flagship might come in two variants, according to memory and storage differentiation. The lower-end option will have 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage and the premium variant might have 4GB of RAM accompanied with 64/128GB of internal storage. Both the options are expected to have a slot for expandable storage via MicroSD card support.
#5
According to the teasers, it is unsure as to when the next YU flagship will be launched in the Indian markets, although sources tell us it will be in the last week of May. As soon as launch takes place, the smartphone will be up for sale (online-only) in the following couple of weeks.
As far as pricing is concerned, the smartphone will be priced close to the Rs. 25,000 price bracket, as was with the Yu Yutopia.
