Sports roundup: Providence softball stays in hunt for league title

SOFTBALL

Providence 13, Oakwood 3 (six innings): The Pioneers stayed in the race for the Liberty League championship with a win Friday at Olive Park.

Emily Mai was three for four with a home run, Fabi Jimenez was four for four and Sophia Jimenez had a hit and three walks for the Pioneers. Pitchers Sophia Jimenez (three innings) and Cielo Monzon (three innings) combined for the win.

Providence (7-3, 6-1 in league) will play at Archer (7-0 in league) Tuesday in a regular season finale for a chance at a share of the league title.

BASEBALL

Burbank vs. Muir: The Pacific League game Friday afternoon was halted in the third inning because of rain. The game will be resumed Monday at Muir with Burbank leading, 3-0.

Burroughs vs. Hoover: The Pacific League game Friday was postponed because of rain. The teams will play Saturday at 6 p.m. at Burroughs.
