Cartoon exhibition in Thiruvananthapuram aims voters
Thiruvananthapuram: The tagline of the cartoon - "Do not waste your vote. Either by voting or not!," gives some food for thought ahead of the assembly election. The message given here is clear that one has to make his vote count by choosing the correct candidate. This was one of the many cartoons, which are being exhibited at the Press Club here as part of the two-day cartoon exhibition jointly organized by the state election commission in coordination with the public relations department, Lalitha Kala Academy, and the district administration.
The exhibition was inaugurated on Wednesday by district collector Biju Prabhakar.
"By giving awareness about the voter's power and responsibility in a democracy, we hope that the exhibition would help in increasing the voter turnout in this election," said Prabhakar.
Cartoonist Sukumar, one of the main organizers of the event, said that the idea for such an exhibition came after Lalithakala academy organized a "Cartoon Camp" at the Vailopilli Samskrithi Bhavan last month. "The idea of using cartoons as a tool to spread awareness among public about their voting rights and responsibilities came up from that camp," he said.
Cartoons of around 40 artists including T K Sujith, Prathapan Pulimath, and Karthika Kattanam are exhibited at the venue.
