Man commits suicide

G. Madhusudhanan (28) of Valli Nagar at Vellakinar reportedly committed suicide by hanging in his house on Tuesday. Thudiyalur Police said that the man working as a marketing executive in a private firm at Peelamedu could not achieve his target over the last four months and he was upset over it. It is said to be reason behind him taking the extreme step. He is survived by his wife Lakshmi whom he married 10 months ago.

Boy drowns

M. Hakkim (3) of Pethanaickenpalayam drowned in a ground water tank in front of his house on Tuesday. Kovilpalayam Police said that the boy’s mother Gayathri went for a bath in the evening and on returning a few minutes later found the boy missing on her return. He was found dead in the eight-feet-deep water tank, with water for a depth of six feet.

Arrested

Thudiyalur Police arrested R. Rajaram (51), a realtor of Kovilmedu, on Tuesday for allegedly setting fire to godown of M. Palaniappan (36) of the same locality around 12.30 a.m. the same day. The police said that Palaniappan gave an advance for buying a small piece of land close to his godown. Rajaram picked a quarrel with Palaniappan over the purchase around 11 p.m. on Monday and the same night he allegedly setting fire to the godown. The police said that a nearby grocery shop owner witnessed the incident. Rajaram was booked under section 436 (mischief by fire with intent to destroy a place) of the Indian Penal Code, arrested and remanded.
