Land boost for stadium dream
Bokaro: Bokaro's dream of getting it's own international cricket stadium may soon become a reality.
Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan, at a press meet at his residence on Wednesday, told media that the district administration has identified 20 acres of land at Satanpur under Chas block for a new cricket stadium, two weeks after receiving a request from Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) in April.

If all goes according to plan, it will be Jharkhand's second international cricket stadium after Ranchi.
JSCA officials surveyed the land on May 2 and found it viable as it is "proximate to the township and is equipped with basic facilities". The JSCA has requested the district administration to complete the land acquisition process soon.
"In a bid to decentralize infrastructure development, we were on the lookout for land in Bokaro and Dhanbad. In reply to our request, the Bokaro administration has offered 20 acres of land. We have requested Narayan and Bokaro DC to take the land acquisition process forward," JSCA president Amitabh Choudhary said.
While land acquisition remains a major issue in the district, the secretary of the district cricket association said, "We have been offered land at various places by the administration, but the plot at Satanpur locality meets our requirements." Bokaro DC said, "The administration has identified 20 acres. After obtaining consent from the association, we will offer the land on lease. Formalities should be completed within a month".
