KALYAN: Three temples in Dombivli have banned entry of women attired in a nightgown — called nightie in local lingo. Authorities of the three temples — Gamdevi, Mahadeo and Hanuman — have put up boards banning entry of women wearing nightgowns, citing that it could make the temple “impure”.
The authorities dished out the logic that women usually cook non-vegetarian food wearing these gowns in their homes besides other activities.
For these women to enter in such clothes is impure.
Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre, who manages the temples, said that local villagers have supported the decision not to let the women enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temples.
