Man gets 8-year RI for raping minor

Judge of the Mahila Court A. Varaprasada Rao on Wednesday found Shiek Madina (20) guilty of raping a five-year old girl and sentenced him to undergo eight years of rigorous imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs. 20,000, under Section 376 of IPC.

The Judge ordered that Rs. 15,000 of the fine amount be given to the girl. If the fine is not paid the convicted person has to undergo simple imprisonment for one year.

According to prosecution conducted by Additional Public Prosecutor S. Rammurthy Naidu, the accused is a resident of Nandamuri Nagar under Gopalapatnam Police Station limits and leading a wayward life style. Around 3 p.m. on July 3, 2010, when the victim, her younger sister and the accused’ children were playing, Shiek Madina had lured her to the upstairs of his house and brutally raped her. When the victim fell sick, her mother came to know of the heinous crime committed on her daughter and lodged a complaint with the Gopalapatnam police. The then Inspector of Police Bhargava Naidu registered a case and investigated.
