Two persons from Firozabad district in Uttar Pradesh were caught by the Cyberabad police for allegedly firing at an employee of a private financial institution reported at Katedan two days ago, when he resisted their attempt to loot the cash.

Cyberabad Commissioner, C V Anand, who announced their arrest on Wednesday, explained that the duo Rahul Sharma (25) and his accomplice Vikas Kumar Jhaath who stay at Sriram colony in Jalpally planned to rob the ‘Geo Sansar’ employee of cash.

On Monday afternoon, the duo went to the centre located on the first floor of the commercial complex. “Rahul went inside and handed over Rs. 1,000 note to Prashad, the cashier and asked him to transfer it to another bank account. Suddenly, he took out his country made firearm and shot at Prashad on the chest. Although Prashad received a bullet wound, he stood up. Fearing that neighbours would gather and cash him, Rahul rushed downstairs and escaped on a motorcycle with Vikas,” Cyberabad Commissioner C V Anand said.

The duo hatched the plan to rob the money from the transfer agency on one of their visit to the place. As part of their plan Rahul went to his native place and purchased a country made firearm along with two rounds for Rs. 1,500 and came to the city.

“On a working day there is cash of anywhere between Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 4 lakh at the centre and the duo were well aware of it. In their bid to make easy money they targeted the employee thinking that he would be dead and they could escape with the cash. Although, Rahul aimed at Prashad’s heart and fired from point blank range, the man luckily escaped as the bullet brushed past his chest and landed in abdomen damaging the intestines,” another police official said.

Police found out that Rahul was involved in a murder case in Firozabad and following pressure from his family members came to the city and was working at a company at Katedan.

On Monday after firing the accused along with his friend went to Nampally railway station and other places before being caught. The police tracked him with the help of phone call details and email id which he had used for online mobile phone recharges.
