Based on a complaint lodged by SLR Metaliks, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered in Mariyammanahalli police station against Bheema Naik, MLA for Hagari Bommanahalli and 20 others, for allegedly assaulting the security staff and trespass.

Babu K., Deputy Manager (Security), in his complaint, on May 1 has stated that Mr. Naik and others, including officials from the Tungabhadra Board, came to the factory and wanted to enter it.

As it was a Sunday and holiday on account of May Day, they were denied entry stating that there were no officials in the office.

But Mr. Naik and others trespassed besides assaulting the security staff for recording the events on his mobile phone.

However, Mr. Naik refuted the allegations and accused the factory management of lodging a false complaint against him and others with an ulterior motive.

He told The Hindu that the company had allegedly been “stealing” water from the impounding reservoirs of the multi-village drinking water schemes and also from the backwaters of the Tungabhadra reservoir.

He said he had brought this to the notice of the district administration.

On May 1, the officials of the Tungabhadra Board, Assistant Executive Officer Rural Drinking Water Department among others had gone for a spot visit.

They also wanted to enter the factory premises to see the source for the impounding reservoir inside the factory premises but were denied entry.

“On being denied entry, we went inside from the behind and returned after inspecting the place. None of the security staff were assaulted … The complaint against me is false to tarnish my image mainly because I had tried to expose the illegal activities of the factory,” he said adding that he would release all the documents shortly.
