Lucknow: To ask for more relief for drought-hit Bundelkhand, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday. A senior functionary in the state government shared with the TOI that the chief minister wants more funds and a special drought package for Bundelkhand and for some other drought affected districts of the state.
This will be first meeting after the prime minister reviewed Bundelkhand drought with his officials and announced an action plan for providing employment and livelihood, drinking water and food security.

The meeting between the two Akhilesh Yadav meeting Narendra Modi would be interesting to note as so far in the last two years in nearly a dozen of meetings of Modi to Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister has not shared any platform with him and left him after receiving and welcoming him .On April 24 the chief minister was to attend a judicial conference by the prime minister, Narendra Modi ,but at the eleventh hour the chief minister declined to attend it . ON May one the prime minister was in Balia and Varanasi, but Akhilesh Yadav did not go there and did not attend his programmes. Though unlike the past before 2014 parliament elections relations between the chief minister and the prime minister are cordial and smooth and both are avoiding to attack each other and working in a focused way for the development so that their political parties benefit in the 2017 assembly elections which are crucial for the both.
However the chief minister wants to send a message that for the developmental projects and the drought hit poor in Bundelkhand he would personally meet the prime minister and would try to extract some funds and package for the state.
