Title controversy for Kamal Haasan again?

Ravikumar, the general secretary of Viduthalai Siruthai Katchi has made an appeal to Kamal to reconsider his new film's title.

Kamal Haasan and controversies are inseparable. Many of his film titles in the past have kicked up a storm for various reasons. Sandiyar, which was later rechristened as Virumaandi, Thevar Magan, Hey Ram, Vasool Raja MBBS, Viswaroopam, Dasavatha ram to name a few.

The latest to follow is his recently announced trilingual Sabaash Naidu which has incurred the wrath of Tirumavalavan’s Viduthalai Sirutthai party, who wants Kamal to change the name, as it has a communal angle.

The actor had recently announced Sabaash Naidu in Tamil and Telugu and Sabaash Kundu in Hindi, which is being directed by TK Rajeev Kumar and features his daughter Shruti, Ramya Krishnan and so on.

Maestro Ilaiyaraaja is composing the music. Under these circumstances, Ravikumar, the general secretary of Viduthalai Sirut thai Katchi has made an appeal to Ulaganayagan to reconsider his new film’s title.

Reportedly, he has said, “The caste-based violence is on an all-time high and honour killing is also on an alarming rise in Tamil Nadu now. So, film titles signifying caste or community will only aggravate the present situations. And the ill-effects of some of the titles used by Kamal sir still continue in few villages. Let him not play around once again by using a title which involves a particular community! The state government should not give entertainment tax waiver to those who use movie titles with caste or community references.”
