Things were so much simpler before the advent of social media.

The Internet is buzzing with speculation that Nicki Minaj and Demi Lovato are beefing after the former failed to tag the latter in an Instagram post of the two women and fashion designer Jeremy Scott at Monday’s Met Gala. As if that wasn’t bad enough, she also tagged Moschino, the fashion house the designer works for.

So was the “snub” a slight or just an oversight on the rapper’s part? Lovato definitely seems to think it was a sign of disrespect, posting an image of herself with an elongated forehead to Snapchat along with the caption: “When you aren’t mentioned in a post but didn’t do s—t to that person…. [tearful laughter emoji].”

The former Disney star had even more to say about Minaj’s Instagram post on – where else? – Instagram. Two hours after the emcee’s initial post, Lovato took to the service to share another image of the women, one in which the Minaj appears to be giving her serious side eye.

“This picture pretty much summed up my first and probably last met,” she wrote along with a series of hashtags, one of which was rather profane. “p.s. some of y’all need to learn how to take a joke.. I’m obviously laughing at the fact that 1. I look incredibly awkward and 2. That the shade being thrown in this picture actually gives me life [hallelujah hands and tearful laughter emoji].”
